Built-In Storage That Does More Than Hold Things

Most storage solutions solve one problem. This Jacksonville living room built-in solves several at once.

The clients needed storage that worked hard without looking like it was working at all. No bulky furniture pieces competing for attention. No open shelving with nowhere to hide the everyday clutter. Just a built-in that fit the room, fit the wall, and fit the way the family actually lives.

Jonah built a floor-anchored cabinet unit with a dark-stained wood countertop, upper open shelving with an inset panel backer, and lower cabinet storage behind shaker-style doors. Brushed nickel bar pulls keep the hardware clean and contemporary. The upper shelves are adjustable and deep enough to display without feeling crowded. The lower cabinets are sized for real life — bins, boxes, the things that need a home but don't need to be seen.

The detail that most people won't notice until they open a drawer: dovetail joinery on every drawer box. It's a traditional woodworking joint that takes more time and more skill to execute than modern alternatives. It also holds better and lasts longer. That's not an accident. That's a choice Jonah makes on every project, whether or not the client ever sees it.

There's also a pull-out shelf tucked beneath the countertop. Closed, it disappears. Open, it gives you exactly the surface you didn't know you needed.

This is what custom millwork does that a furniture store can't. It fits your space, your storage needs, and your standard — not a manufacturer's best guess at what most people want.
